About Us
We are all children of the 80's... whether you were born in the 80's, looked up your first skirt in the 80's or lost your virginity in the 80's, if you are a dad, you are no stranger to the piano key neck tie, checkered vans and Van Halen. So no matter how you slice it, you are rad.
>So even though the 80's are widely
regarded as the decade that shouldn't have been, an empty ten-year stretch
between disco and grunge, molded by Madonna and skate parks and Pac Man, we are
a part of it. We can either fight it, or we can embrace it. It was
a decade that shaped us and made us who we are. And if we can make through a
decade like that, we are in pretty good shape to mold the young minds of our
kids in the current social environment. Madonna has given way to
Miley Cyrus, Ronald Reagan has given way to Barack Obama and Atari has been
dwarfed by the xBox and the Wii. But we are well armed to help our kids
become happy, responsible and contributing members of society. All we have to
do is figure out how to make the Internet work for us instead of against
us.
And that is was this is about. Dad
is Rad is for you. It is a community of dads who are still guys. You may
drop f-bombs at will, bitch about your marriage, tell funny stories about your
kids, belch loudly and share the knowledge you have acquired with all of us.
Feel free to be involved in whatever manner you see fit. We’re all making
this up as we go, so feel free to comment, criticize, condemn and commend. We’ll all band together to do a
kick-ass job at being a dad.
So embrace the 80’s. You can’t
shake it, so you might as well use it to your advantage. I'm not sure I'd
take High School Musical over Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but at
lest we no longer have Pee-Wee's
Playhouse to endure… or do we?
God help us all. And stay rad.
